Review of Reclaim (2014) by Roxanne R — 20 Mar 2017
This film gets an extra star since it was filmed almost entirely in Puerto Rico, around San Juan and some island towns. So THANK YOU Hollywood for choosing Puerto Rico (PR) which is a US Territory to make your film.
Reclaim is about a wealthy American couple Steven (R. Phillippe and Shannon (R. Lefevre) who relied on an adoption agency in PR to adopt a Haitian girl. Once they arrive to the island, they meet Nina (B.
Roy) and while bonding with the child, they eagerly await for her passport to arrive so they can return back to Chicago. During the waiting period at the hotel, Nina gets kidnapped and the couple is desperately seeing assistance from the local police to see what is going on.
The story continues from there. The acting was solid, I recognized Old San Juan and the hotels were spectacular. The beach scenery also very pretty. There are some unexpected twists and surprises during the film so get ready for some action, suspense, intrigue although I figured out easily who were the "bad guys".
Regardless, it is available in HD from Netflix and for those considering adoption (I am one of them) oh please watch this film to open your eyes to the scams going on! RECOMMENDED!
