Review of [REC] (2007) by Peter K — 24 Sep 2010

Overrated. Had I seen this before Cloverfield, I might have liked it more, but Cloverfield has set the bar so high for the hand-held-horror film that this film falls short. Yes, it's enjoyable gruesome in places, and I did jump once, but it's best scare bits are borrowed from J-horror films, the lead actress is annoying, and the plot is rather preposterous.
