Review of [REC] (2007) by Daniel G — 16 Apr 2011
This film is terrifying. While it plays on the hand-held-camera trend set by The Blair Witch Project, REC really makes this sort of horror film it's own with it's creative way of capturing confusion, violence, and complete and utter horror the way it does.
What adds to the suspense is the real sense of confusion, misdirection, and surprise a long the way. Many people will probably reject this film because it's Spanish and might have to read some subtitles, but honestly, the fact that it's a foreign film added to the fear factor for me.
The gore and scares are completely haunting and REC is the film not soon forgotten. Watching it with the lights out and the volume up will leave you shaken and scared. It's one hell of a ride, but it's a great one.
