Review of [REC] (2007) by Steve R — 19 Nov 2011
A spanish-language film shot in the reality style of Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield. A pretty young TV presenter goes to a fire station at night to interview the crew when a call is made for them to rescue a woman trapped in her apartment screaming.
The woman turns out to be crazy and bites a fireman, infecting him with an unknown virus. The police barricade the building and refuse to let anyone leave because of a biohazzard warning. The tension builds up and up throughout the film as the survivors try to escape, and the end of the film is truly terrifying and unexpected.
The most atmospheric horror film I've seen in ages.
