Review of [REC] (2007) by Jesse K — 31 May 2013

[Rec] had a lot I liked and a lot I didn't like. The acting is great and the overall production is well-done. There are times when it drags for too long and there are times when the excitement is extremely high.

One of the problems is there just aren't enough scares. There are moments that fall flat and other moments where the scares are perfect. Another movie that has truly unsettled me (I just wish it happened more often).

There's one thing I need to mention: The last 15 minutes of [Rec] are some of the most terrifying 15 minutes I've ever seen in film. I could barely take it. The environment, along with the lack of music, creates a disturbing atmosphere and by the end the tension almost becomes torturous.

Some good, some bad, but definitely a surprise for the genre.
