Hard to fathom that anyone would persist with carrying a big camera around whilst running from creatures who share the same munchies as Luis Suarez. The shaky home camera style did enhance the frantic nature of the situation and the characters.

However, similar to home movies, the production sometimes appeared cheap. Also, an attempt at a deeper plot explanation right at the end felt tacked on, under-developed and was something the movie could have definitely done without.

'Rec' does effectively catch you by surprise on more than one occasions and does create fear through its enclosed setting. On the whole though, it falls into that same category of zombie movies that I've never really been fond of.
