Review of [REC] (2007) by Chris O — 18 Oct 2015
[Rec] takes the found footage style filmmaking, and proves that it still has life and can scare the hell out of the viewer. The premise is simple, a virus infects people in an apartment complex and the government locks the place up, trapping everyone inside.
It is pretty much a zombie film, but where no one can run away and escape. There are some very well done moments that are very creepy and provide great scares. Most of the filming is very shaky and dark at times, so if you can not handle sporadic movement you might get sick.
The final segment of the film is the scariest and when all the power goes out and the only way to see is through the cameras night vision view, you better hold on tight. It may have subtitles because its a foreign film but that doesn't take away or make this one any less frightening.
If you want a solid horror film, don't miss out on Rec.
