Review of [REC] (2007) by Paul Z — 16 Oct 2012
Having already been a fan of its U.S. remake Quarantine by the time I got around to this pared-down POV nightmare, I found many of the jolts to be less amped up and thus more eerie and incredulous in their sudden-ness, but the American version kept the intense panic at a nonstop rush.
Either way, there's no cinematic terror in recent memory more horrifying than the final scene of either version.
