Review of [REC]² (2009) by Danny G — 11 Sep 2010
In comparison to it's North American remake, this original take on a Angela Vidal's story within an out of control, quarantined apartment complex definitely sets the bar very high. What "[Rec]" has that "Quarantine" doesn't is a stronger sense of a more corporeal emotionality rather than just a collection of consecutive, reckless horrifying shots without much relation to the characters within them.
Another thing I liked about "[Rec]" was the use of interviews during the breather. Claudia Font's portrayal of Angela was definitely very noteworthy wherein she did a great job of making herself lovable for the audience, which allows the adrenaline factor to hit a lot harder than it did in "Quarantine" because nobody wanted to see her get hurt.
Overall, this movie is a success.
