Usually a horror film that gathers rave reviews is entertaining but never too scary.

REC is completely chilliing however, because - despite obvious scares - it seems so real. The shaky camera thing is de rigeur right now, but when it is done right it really does work.

The old horror film fave of yelling at stupid decisions is back in full effect, but because of the frantic pace it feels believable that people would be that dumb at points!

Any horror film that can make me turn away because I needed to catch my breath deserves every star it gets. And in a world of 2-3 hour movies, it comes in at an entertainingly concise 80 or so minutes.
