Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Bryan W — 02 Dec 2008
Though the concepts in the film are clearly dated (they can't all carry over as well as a film like 'M'), the brilliant acting, garish production design and crisp directing make this film a must see.
Even when the script is bogged down by overt exposition, the verve and sexual tension between all three of the leads is enough to carry the scenes along with a cathartic rhythm that unfortunately leads to a somewhat uninteresting denouement.
Nevertheless, the early demise of all the leads only served to cement it as the penultimate early work in teenage angst.
