Review of Rear Window (1954) by Dionisis K — 09 Apr 2012
Hitchcock's genius in this one I think is that he manages to create, sustain and increase appropriately the suspense tention throughout a rather cluster-phobic set, while ethic debates on about peeping or the law - abiding citizent's duties issues that the storyline constantly suggests (think of the timeframe this movie was released).
I won't even go near to such complex issues that are either filmed or simply implied throughout that excellent movie, such as sexual habits of the time, or the notion of impotence or/and indifference in front of evil.
