Review of Rear Window (1954) by Edward C — 10 May 2012
Plot/Summary,Laid up with a broken leg, photojournalist L.B. Jeffries (James Stewart) is confined to his tiny, sweltering courtyard apartment. To pass the time between visits from his nurse (Thelma Ritter) and his fashion model girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly), the binocular-wielding Jeffries stares through the rear window of his apartment at the goings-on in the other apartments around his courtyard. As he watches his neighbors, he assigns them such roles and character names as "Miss Torso" (Georgine Darcy), a professional dancer with a healthy social life or "Miss Lonelyhearts" (Judith Evelyn), a middle-aged woman who entertains nonexistent gentlemen callers. Of particular interest is seemingly mild-mannered travelling salesman Lars Thorwald (Raymond Burr), who is saddled with a nagging, invalid wife. One afternoon, Thorwald pulls down his window shade, and his wife's incessant bray comes to a sudden halt. Out of boredom, Jeffries casually concocts a scenario in which Thorwald has murdered his wife and disposed of the body in gruesome fashion. Trouble is, Jeffries' musings just might happen to be the truth. 'My Review.
Alfred Hitchcock's riveting classic Rear Window revolves around Wheel chaired man L.B Jefferies who looks out his Rear Window and finds and I inexpiable mystery man whose behavior has Jeff convinced a murder has taken place. He looks each night through his Rear Window what the strange man is up to and trying to put the man in jail and find the evidence to do so. As the film progresses you begin to wonder if the strange man really did kill his wife. Jeffries is a photojournalist who calls Thomas Doyle the detective but Thomas will not support the case so it's only up to Jeffries,Stella, and Lisa to solve the case.Rear Window is in my case a detective classic, and film classic. That doesn't need too much to show how great of a film it is.The Shots through the Rear Window is superb,i thought that the shots would be kind of bad,not horrible, not godawful.I just thought it would be a little bad, like say five percent bad but no the shots in this film is amazing,as well as the Editing. The performances in this are amazing, but I was caught by James Stewart performance as Jeffries, and who could forget the wonderful Grace Kelly, I honestly thought she wouldn't do good to me but Grace Kelly as Lisa was spectacular.Rear Window is a classic that must not be forgotten. I love this film and I hope you do to. This Rear Window gets a five out of five.
