Review of Rear Window (1954) by Joel C — 07 Jul 2012
A masterpiece of cinema. Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window is a claustrophobic exercise of suspense. There isn't a shot wasted in this. James Stewart is such a likeable heroine, no matter how much he is pressing into matters that don't concern him.
The cinematography was executed so magnificently, you feel as if you've merged well into the character and as the shots playout, you begin to share the same reactions. This was such a realistic take on this genre, even now.
This film definitely upholds it's title as a classic.
