Review of Rear Window (1954) by Sarfaraz A — 17 Aug 2012
Rear Window.
Dir: Alfred Hitchcock.
Starring: James Stewart, Grace Kelly.
Great story, a suspense film, that only Hitchcock knew how to direct. James Stewart gives yet another best performance of his peak-career. It is work of a master like Alfred Hitchcock to come up with art-direction of the film, and the character of James Stewart a photographer, encapsulated inside his own apartment, on a wheelchair; while keeping an eye on rest of apartments. A suspicion puts him to find out more about a strange dweller in the community.
What makes me to be magnetized, is the way entire film is made in one small room, and you don't get bored at all, that's certainly the Hitchcokian method to hypnotize the audience. You never get lost with Franz Waxman's musicscore. Grace Kelly plays love interest of James Stewart, and she is wonderful and lovely.
(Grace Kelly had said during roosting James Stewart at his AFI LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ceremony, that how gladly Jimmy would kiss her upon retakes :-).
NOTE: This is my 3rd revisit to this masterpiece in almost 2 years.
