Review of Rear Window (1954) by Stephen E — 15 Nov 2012
Though the finale could've and should've been much better, "Rear Window" is a voyeuristic, claustrophobic thriller that succeeds under the competent direction of Alfred Hitchcock. I may not be the biggest fan of the notoriously slow pace that Hitchcock moves at to develop tension, but man, when his films get going, it's pretty darn impressive how suspenseful they can be.
Those long takes are just marvelous.
