Review of Rear Window (1954) by Stuart M — 30 Oct 2014
Draws a great deal of tension out of extremely ordinary circumstances the film is as visionary today as it was when it was made, despite attempts since then to reproduce the basic premise. What impressed me (and the remakes/imitators always get wrong somehow) is the fact that we see the entire movie from Stewart's point of view.
We never leave his room, even when events are happening in the murderer's apartment, and that makes us feel his desperation and helplessness in a way nothing else could.
