Review of Rear Window (1954) by Wesley W — 06 Apr 2015
Before even getting into a review, I have to say that Jimmy Stewart is my all time favorite actor. So before even viewing the film I knew that I would like it. I could watch him read the phonebook and be interested.
Anyways, from the get go Hitchcock has the viewer hooked. Even before there is a murder mystery introduced, the long sweeping pan (two times actually) grabs your attention. It doesn't hurt that the distraction from the stalking Jimmy Stewart is the absolutely breathtaking Grace Kelly, who is gorgeous in every shot.
But none of these things even compare to the suspense that Alfred Hitchcock creates. He has such a flair for capturing your attention and creating suspense, it's almost not fair. Rear Window is amazing.
