Review of Rear Window (1954) by Sa W — 10 Jun 2015
I'm not going to tell you anything that hasn't been said about this film prior. One of Hitchcock's best (though not his absolute best imo) as a great story with master thespians like Stewart and Kelly would be.
Tense and heavy when the moment called for it, while also being able to feel light and playful during the happier times, this movie captured beautifully the wide world of emotions and possibilities that go on in any neighborhood.
Part of what makes any Hitchcock film so successful is his ability to make the characters very relatable, as they feel surely what the audience would feel were they to switch places, and this cast is no different in pulling off that feat (Stewart especially).
An absolute delight to watch, amplified by the fact that the entirety of the story takes place within 4 tiny apartment walls.
