Review of Rear Window (1954) by Jonas C — 31 Aug 2017
Rear Window was a well acted, entertaining, and suspenseful thrill ride. The performances were top notch by Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly. The thing this film does so well is that, you do not know whether this man, that Stewart is convinced had killed his wife, is guilty of it or not.
There is evidence given that he could have killed her, and that he didn't kill her, which makes for an enjoyable watch as the characters have to figure this out for themselves. This however, is not a masterpiece.
At first, it took a long time to even get to the main plot, many filler scenes involving Stewart and Kelly haven't having relationship problems and whether or not he will marry her, and so on. The wife wad also unconvinced that Stewart was right ir not, and suddenly, boom, she is on his side and starts coming to her own conclusions.
There were many other neighbors that took a lot of screen time that no purpose to the story at all. In conclusion, this is a well made thriller with a few minor issues.
