Review of Rear Window (1954) by Will J — 21 Aug 2012
Rear Window is widely regarded as Hitchcock's best film to date and I can see why. It is the very essence of a thriller - tense and full of suspense. With a well thought out plot, the film is evocative of the voyeur style Hitchcock frequently uses which draws us in and as the film progresses, more questions are raised, holding our attention until the very end.
Although it is fairly obvious that Thorwald was the murderer to both us and Jeffries, finding the evidence is what creates the suspense which is executed to perfection.
