Review of Reality Bites (1994) by Moore S — 18 May 2010
One of those movies that highlight the culture of the generation X throughout the 90's. Unlike "SLC Punk" or "Night in Roxbury" though, it doesn't portray a certain culture or sub-culture, but just an average society.
Most of the stuff that happens is pretty realistic, so even though this is kinda drama, it's not unimaginable. I think this was one of the first movies directed by Ben Stiller, it was also produced by Danny DeVito, so pretty interesting collaboration.
The plot is solid for this type of movie, little episodic parts were good, like the one with David Spade, for example. Pretty hilarious. They even managed to squeeze in Sepultura's "Arise" in there.
The strongest part of this film is Ethan Hawke with Winona Ryder, the scenes with just two of them, especially the fights, are just amazing. Totally loved it.
