Review of Real Women Have Curves (2002) by Emma B — 17 Dec 2018
This movie is an important one to add to the list if you are a fan of coming of age films. Ana is an endearing but fierce main character who embodies many of the fears, aspirations, and difficulties that young women have in America, especially for those who grow up in Latino/a American culture.
It sheds a light on the hardships that are often faced by working-class Americans, and also on the ways that mainstream culture can convince women that they aren't good enough as they naturally exist.
Overall, an entertaining, heartwarming, and educational film.
