Review of Real Genius (1985) by Sean P — 16 May 2008
"Here, try this.".
"What is it?" (as Val Kilmer feeds him some pink goo from a pot).
"I don't know. I found it in one of the labs...".
Boy proceeds to spit pink goo everywhere.
I don't care that the plot of this film is thinner than Patrick Stewarts hair or that it looks like a relic from the 80s (it is). the dialogue and performances from Val kilmer and especially the legendary William Atherton are absolutely perfect. Example: "What are you looking at? You're laborers. You should be laboring. That's what you get for not having an education." this is a great film.
Neal Israel (writer) went on to do nothing of interest and I have no idea why. the writing in this film puts a lot of other supposed 'comedys' to shame.
