Review of Real Genius (1985) by Shaun M — 11 Jul 2008
This is one of those films that I grew up watching many, many times on HBO back in the day. And although it has aged a bit, and some of the concepts seem a little out there. I find what makes this film all the more compelling these days is on how fantastic performance Val Kilmer provides with his "Chris Knight" character. Especially in keeping a nice balance between brilliance and kookiness.
Another thing I think that helps this film greatly is watching as how many of the sharp minds that simply revel in their own creations. Especially when it comes time to play a joke or two to others.
And for those with a sharp eye, watch out for ID4 producer Dean Devlin in his slight cameo as one of the students.
