Review of Real Genius (1985) by Daniel H — 23 Oct 2010
The more I watch this, the better this gets. The hijinks of a group of college students, led by a 15-year old whiz kid and a way too easygoing surfer type senior, who are assigned to make a 50 megawatt laser for their professor, along with snappy dialogue by Val Kilmer makes this one of the best 80's comedies.
Michelle Meyrink is particularly appealing as Jordan, a brainy girl who doesn't seem to sleep, as is Jon Gries as Hollyfeld, a genius who got burned out. Poor William Atherton gets cast in another role as a jerk, following his role as EPA agent Peck in Ghostbusters.
