Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Steven Y — 06 Apr 2018
"Awesome Movie".
This movie was great and I'll probably see it again, but this time in 3-D.
I wasn't too excited about seeing Ready Player One. The only reason why I wanted to see it was that "Role Playing Game books" seem to be the trend in the nerd world right now. The movie trailers really didn't do much for me.
The movie's script is well written, it's well directed, and there are tons of nostalgic movie and video game references for gamers, nerds, and moviegoers, to enjoy. It's not an overly complex script, which is good. But the characters stay true to themselves and their environment. Spielberg is the man.
The movie is basically "The Matrix" combined with your standard "Role Playing Game" and a better storyline than Avatar (which is basically blue giant hippies fighting marines on another planet to save a tree that everyone wants to have sex with).
The movie is kid friendly.
Tip: Don't drink any big soda during the movie. It's a long movie....you may have to pee.
