Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Adrian D — 07 Apr 2018
4 Star Review:
I love Back to the Future. I love Alan Silvestri's score for Back to the Future. And I loved what the Zemeckis Cube in Ready Player One was able to do.
All the nostalgia aside, Steven Spielberg returns to big budget film making with this highly entertaining film centered around Wade (Parzival) and his quest to attain the 3 keys needed to win the hidden "Easter Egg" within the virtual game world known as the Oasis. Spielberg utilizes effective camera work and framing to add his Spielberg touch to this film and the results are phenomenal. It engages the audience and sucks them right in to the middle of his storytelling. With Silvestri writing the music for Ready Player One, there were many, many moments throughout the film that evoked the music from Back to the Future. I loved it! Was it done on purpose? Possibly. What I liked most about the film, though, was that it had a heart and it had a great story to be able to have that show through. Highly recommend everyone to check it out!
