Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Bily T — 08 Apr 2018

Ready Player One, the latest live action movie from one of the best directors in the movie industry, Steven Spielberg, I was pretty interested in this movie because of it being set in the VR world and of course some of the characters they included, but now that I've seen it, I can say that while there was some epic-est to the movie, it mostly falls flat on its face. In a way I like to call Ready Player One, the Wreck it Ralph of live action, the only differences being that Wreck it Ralph was a fully animated movie, only using the Video Game world and Wreck it Ralph was a better movie in my opinion.

This movies story is a bit underwhelming, the characters are standard young hero type characters, the cast is pretty nice, the CGI while it is good it is pretty standard seeing as CGI in movies are standard and not as special nowadays, I think the characters they had the rights to use were the ones they spent most of the budget for CGI on had more of a better job than the original CGI on the main characters, I mean the CGI on the main character are alright but I can tell they spent more time on the characters they got the rights to, the music pretty decent, and there was some funny jokes here and there but not all of it was funny.

This movie would've been great but it relies too much on the characters they got the rights to use and references to movies, games and other things this movie has than it being a really good movie, I wanted to really love this movie but just can't because it isn't doing it right, to me it is definitely not one of Steven Spielberg's best works.

If you want to watch this movie still after reading this, I'd suggest waiting until the DVD comes out or watch till it airs on TV, otherwise it's okay to skip it, if you did like this movie than more power to you, I unfortunately couldn't as much.

I give Ready Player One a 5 out of 10, I wanted to really like this movie but it came out underwhelming and fell flat on its face.
