Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Bill D — 12 Apr 2018
Steven Spielberg does a solid job making a film out of Ernest Cline's video game and 1980/1990s geek homage. Zak Penn along with Cline rewrote the book for the screenplay without much damage, simplifying plot elements and minimizing the book's retro feel.
The screenplay glosses over moments when depth or emotion might have been shown. But the computer-generated imagery is spectacular.
