Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Bobby W — 07 Jul 2018
Ready: Player One is a movie that is good for two things, getting visibility to the book and entertaining those who have chosen not to read it. Once you read the book, you will find yourself disappointed in how the movie takes an intelligent fairly smart young man and turns him into a poor excuse for a harry potter wannabe, where he has to rely mostly on his friends to get him to the finish line.
The plot is a complete departure from the source material, only using some of the dialog and plot elements in the movie. The fact that Ernest Cline and Spielberg allowed their names to be attached to a project such as this movie is saddening.
