Review of Read My Lips (2001) by Ryan M — 14 Sep 2010
The title sounds sassy, but it's not about that. In fact, the title is quite literally appropriate. Hearing-impaired secretary, who is diligent albeit bored with her job, meets an ex-con trainee at work.
The dynamics between them slowly but very strongly builds up, and they both find a use for each other. This is a thriller. A VERY UNDERSTATED thriller. It takes you on a slow ride that makes a very calculated and wide turn that will keep you intrigued till the end.
Beautiful storytelling. A must watch if you're looking to be thrilled, in a very subtle way. I'd say it's a modern take on Hitchcock's style.
