Review of Reach for the Sky (1956) by Martin T — 02 Jul 2007
I confess a personal reason for loving this movie - as a boy, Douglas Bader was the only other man I knew of with a prosthetic leg, apart from my dad. Utterly old fashioned, which erroneously suggests that it was the upper classes who won the war, not the working man.
But a fascinating historic document, all the same - not as evidence of the realities of war, but how war was being depicted in the mid-Fifties.
