Review of Razzle Dazzle: A Journey into Dance (2007) by Thomas M — 27 Jan 2008
BRI-LLI-ANT! the best mockumentary i've yet seen. of course I love dance and good dance movies (like company), I loved little miss sunshine, I laughed my ass off for drop dead gorgeous. Well this one is a combinaison of all of this.
it even manages to be political in the best way, showing that if one's better have a tiny bit of brain to be able to defend a cause, at least, better try than do nothing at all. It can all be summed up in the sentence of mr Jonathon about afghan women: this and the 'good news' scene are just pure GEMS.
go and you'll get the point. the dancing is AB FAB, the characters, adults and girls alike, are all ridiculous, but some of them remain touching nevertheless, and that's a fine line to respect, and without which these sort of movies become pure and sterile massacre games.
so just massage your cheeks, open your mouth, drop the intellect, wake the liZa up in you and enjoy the ride.
