Review of Razortooth (2007) by Jason D — 05 Jun 2009
Much like all of the other recent films about gentically mutated aquatic monsters running amok in small town lakes and swamps terrorizing and eating people left and right, I expected some of the same formulaic drab out of Razortooh, which in fact delivered said drab, though turned up a bit.
Razortooth is about a genetically enhanced eel running though the swamps, sewer systems, and land (well far away from water no less) of a small town and eating nearly the entire cast, which is pretty huge, thus leading to a very large and satisfying body count.
Everyone involved in this movie knew how ridiculous it was going to be (I least I sure as hell hope they did), which allowed for everyone to let loose and have fun making a dumb movie, which in turn, make me have fun watching the movie.
It's sheer silly nonsense with terribly cartoony monsters running around and tearing people up (for real, the gore in this is definitely abundant). Razortooth managed to live up, if not, ever so slightly exceed my expectations, leading to a fun viewing.
I would definitely recommend watching this film with friends and lots of beer. Silly film, but I liked it!
