Review of Raze (2013) by Heather M — 29 Sep 2014
"BE THE LAST WOMAN STANDING".
- 'Raze' is a 2013 exploitation film by Josh C. Waller. The movie is a mix of 'Fight Club' meets 'Hostel', as abducted women are forced to fight each other barehanded to entertain a select group of people. Although I didn't really expect much from the film because the story is simple and the dialogues non existing and the complete movie was shot in 30 days, I do have to say the fight scenes are brutal, bloody and memorable. Starring Zoë Bell (Death Proof, Oblivion) Rachel Nichols (GI Joe: the Rise of Cobra, P2), Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Death Proof) Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks) and Doug Jones (Pan's Labyrinth, John Dies at the End).
Jamie (Nichols) wakes up in a unknown environment, with cold walls and no windows. She wears pants and a tank top, but has no shoes on. While searching for a way out, she stumbles upon another woman, who introduces herself as Sabrina (Bell). Both women have been abducted by Joseph (Jones) and Elizabeth (Fenn), a couple who organizes twisted entertainment for their wealthy friends. Together with 50 others, Jamie and Sabrina will have to fight bare fisted. Only one woman may survive this competition.
