Review of Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) by Bandsaws — 07 Mar 2021

A love letter to the land and people of Southeast Asia, and possibly Disney’s strongest animated movie of all time. Raya and the Last Dragon breaks the Princess movie formula in several ways - it’s not a musical, and it borrows as much from an Indiana Jones adventure as from the classic Disney canon - but the new influences make it something bigger and better with a broader appeal.

Visually, the movie is stunning, with a color palette and environments that technically exceed even the best previous animated efforts. The team behind the movie should congratulate themselves on a job very, very well done.
