Review of Raw (2017) by Jon C — 14 Oct 2017
A very disturbing and searing piece of work.
There's plenty of metaphors here laid out for sexual awakening. puberty, and womanhood.
Not as grotesque as I thought it would be but still very distressing to watch.
A French horror film that plays more dramatic but just as bloody all around.
A young girl and her sister are at a vet school learning to understand the dynamics of opening and dissecting animals but the youngest, Justine is going through a dramatic transformation as she develops the urge to taste not just meat but human flesh despite being a vegetarian.
At certain points she can't stop so what does it mean in the long run for her?
Can she still have a career, have sex, and a life?
Really good performances here with an appropriate amount of blood showing the struggles of a young woman coming into her own.
And that ending....whew that did clear up a lot of things I was wondering about.
