Review of Ravenous (1999) by Alex D — 20 Sep 2007
Intelligent horror films were a bit of a rare find in the 90's, but this underexposed gem was truly one of the sharpest genre films of the decade. A really gripping tale of cannibalism, survival, and supernatural horrors set in the 1840's, Ravenous is one cleverly twisted horror film turned black comedy.
Seriously, it's as equally funny as it is gruesomely thrilling. Great cast, slick direction, nice makeup FX, and a pretty creative music score. It's a thoroughly unique genre film that's highly entertaining.
