Review of Ravenous (1999) by Matthew J — 04 Feb 2009
Bizarre story of a cowardly soldier in the Mexican-American War sent to a remote outpost in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There, he finds he is unable to run from the new battles he must face. One in the form of a vicious cannibal, and another in the form of his own growing hunger, initially fed out of necessity, but continually growing during the course of the movie.
Quirky story and soundtrack, but I've found it to be an entertaining movie, though disturbing at times. I'm not a fan of slasher flicks, but this one strikes a good balance by not overdoing the gore, in my opinion.
