Review of Ravenous (1999) by Tania B — 24 Dec 2007
And it started off so well...
But then... it seemed like they were out of ideas all of the sudden.
Or maybe my hopes were too high.
Or maybe I'm just a picky bastard when it comes to movies.
Or maybe I fell asleep and missed the best parts.
Or maybe this movie's just as average as it gets.
Anyways...
I'm geting a lot of it lately, but here's another one with a great concept and an outcome that doesn't do it justice. The plot is really captivating up until the point when you find out what this movie's going to be about. But then... Same shit, different day. And I must say I was still waiting for some sort of twist even after they laid the cards all out on the table (which happened a little too soon, if you ask me), but the truth is that, at a certain point, all you get is a flat plot with no surprises whatsoever. And what bothers me the most about this film is that there's room in it for some really good ups and downs. The thing is that they didn't make the best of the material they had to work with.
And, ok... Fine... There's a sort of a twist attempt at some point. I'll give 'em that. But I really wouldn't call it A twist, because it doesn't change the story a bit. So, flat plot almost all the way through, even though they tried to come up with a surprising event.
Sorry!
Not all that surprised.
Try to work harder next time.
Still...
Worth for the cannibalistic theory and practice.
