Ratchet & Clank is a curious movie. In my mind, it can be interpreted as one of two things: an utterly forgettable animated movie or one of the finest video game movies of all time. Ratchet & Clank is an origin story and thus anyone could jump in and understand what's going on, but don't be fooled: this movie is for fans of the game.

Those who already know and love these characters and this style of humor will find a lot to love about the movie, but the uninitiated will likely write it off as just another animated movie. This is a shame, because for those of us that "get it", Ratchet & Clank is an extremely solid movie and it sets a new standard for video game adaptations, even if that standard isn't exactly sky high.
