As a fan of the video games I wanted to like this movie but the movie gave me little reason to. The jokes are rarely ever funny and the animation looks a solid decade behind bigger studios like Pixar. The characters are also poorly developed and sometimes unlikable.
Some of the references to the games are nice for longtime fans but for everyone else this movie has little cinematic value and will likely bore and annoy most viewers.
