Review of Ratatouille (2007) by Luis R — 07 Jul 2013
Following the immense success of Brad Bird's "The Incredibles" he writes and directs another excellent Pixar film. Most of Pixar's films are basically flawless- Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, Toy Story- and Ratatouille is no exception.
The concept is fun and intriguing, the animation superb, the voice acting is brilliant and the plot is genius. It follows the story of Remy (Patton Oswalt), a rat with a keen sense of smell and a love for cooking.
He comes across Linguini, a talentless cook who is desperate for a stable job. The two team-up and work in Gusteau's, a once top restaurant in France. They face an amusing antagonist, desperate to find out the secret of Linguini's exceptional talent for cooking.
But Brad Bird is not stupid, as soon as he gets kicks out one villain, he ups the conflict by introducing another more sinister villain, Anton Ego, voiced brilliantly by Peter O' Toole. To top it off, Ratatouille matches The Incredibles fast, fun pacing that goes hand in hand with an excellent score.
