Review of Ratatouille (2007) by Josh R — 30 Sep 2013
The trailers for this film were terrible, making you think it was a film about a kid using a genius chef rat to keep his job, or something. What this film is really about is vocational greatness, and that it can be found in anyone and/or anywhere. Intertwined with that is a sub-plot about the relationship between the boy and the rat leading to some interesting revelations and character changes.
In the end, an amazing amount of depth with messages in this fantasy story about the role of vocation, the consequences of trying to suppress it (either subjectively or an outside authority), and unlikely friendship working to mutual advantage all wrapped up in a great dramedy.
