Review of Ratatouille (2007) by Edward K — 07 May 2015
Reviews from the students in the after-school film club at the Tibetan Service Center of New York:
KT: Cultural chauvinism is not in short supply in the movie, "Ratatouille." The evil and malevolent characters all speak English with heavily "French" accents (Wait, it's set in France. Why are they speaking in English?). The French are also stereotypically portrayed as rude. This cultural chauvinism is very disrespectful to the French people.
LT: Cultural chauvinism is alive and well in the movie, "Ratatouille." The movie portrays the "evil" characters speaking in English with heavy French accents, while the "good" characters speak English perfectly.
