Review of Rashomon (1950) by Brayden B — 08 Mar 2009
This Japanes masterpiece gave merit to Japanese cinema for the first time in North America, and boosted the career of the now legendary Akira Kurosawa. Through the varying flashback accounts of a rape/murder the film studies the nature of truth and how it is easily obscured by subjective perception.
It also features brilliantly composed images and an unforgettable performance by the incomparable Toshiro Mifune.
