Review of Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) by Scott M — 16 Jan 2011
A really stupid, slow, boring movie that could've been something special with less budgetary constraints and less annoying kids. The exposition setting up the mythology is almost non-existant, leading you to wonder how in the hell the characters jump to the conclusion that this thing they find is Santa Claus.
The end suffers from a lack of budget, resulting in one of the most anti-climactic endings I think I've ever seen. If there's one thing I do like, it's the actor who played the man everyone believes to be Santa Claus.
He is creepy on so many levels that it's a shame they were unable to use that better. This might work well as a shitty movie to watch with a bunch of friends, but as an actual movie it's just terrible.
