Review of Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) by Miska J — 20 Dec 2010
The hype surrounding Rare Exports is completely undeserved. If this was a hollywood horror film (which in many ways it resembles) it would not be treated so kindly. The story is interesting at first, delving into finnish 'mythology' about Santa being a demon who murders naughty little children.
This is stretched out for the opening 20 mins until an evil looking old man is captured and we're led to believe that this is evil Santa. At this point the movie is spooky and believable-ish. After that it goes downhill at tremendous speed, before crashing horrendously at the bottom - and even it's smoldering carcass isn't entertaining enough to merit the price of a movie ticket, rental, or download time.
