Review of Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) by Dave J — 21 Dec 2010
A fine dark fantasy from Finland that provides an excellent antidote to seasonal sentimentality. Here Santa is more like Satan than the usual jolly old fellow, and you'll certainly never have seen elves quite like these before.
It builds slowly, and in truth the plot could easily have been condensed into a half-hour TV special. However, patience is richly rewarded by the final fifteen minutes, which are an absolute feast of deadpan black comedy.
